Kazimierz Kozica and Michael Ritter:

The "Charte des Koenigreichs Polen" by Johannes Walch

Cartographica Helvetica 36 (2007) 3–10

Summary:

In the year 1793 or 1794 the map editing house Johannes Walch in Augsburg, which was founded shortly before, published its first map of Poland. Due to the numerous territorial and political changes during that epoch, and taking commercial aspects into consideration, the editor had to update and revise this map several times. During the years up until 1830 when the map appeared for the last time, a total of 13 different printing states existed. Walch's Poland map confirms the adage that during times of upheaval, a map editor was obliged to continually improve his maps in order to be successful in business.
