Cartographica HelveticaSummaryGeorges Grosjean: Map of the Bernese State, 1638, by Joseph PleppCartographica Helvetica 12 (1995) 13–17 Summary: Joseph Plepp was a gifted cartographer who compiled the best single-sheet map of the territory of the canton of Berne. He reduced the monumental map by Thomas Schoepf (1577), added a few interesting details of places he knew personally and kept approximately 90% of the original names. It seems that his idea was to publish a general map as quickly as possible without correcting inaccurate or missing features outside of the territorial borders. Bibliographic note
